who need medical treatment
MACLA is a Kansas City based organization. More than 3000 physicians, nurse anesthetists and nurses have volunteered their time and talents to work with the teams. These dedicated volunteers have come from all over the United States. Many hospitals, businesses, foundations and individuals have provided resources for continued service to the people of the Dominican Republic and to Bolivia.
A special patent, Levanessa Meran, from sister Babs' Inn of the Good Samaritan, who we have been treating for four years.
She was born with a huge hemangioma (blood vessel tumor) of her upper lip and because this is a very vascular (bloody) it required conservative injections to decrease the size until this year.
MEDICAL AID FOR CHILDREN OF LATIN AMERICA (MACLA) endeavors to help the financially underprivileged of the Dominican Republic, Bolivia and other third world countries. The teams of surgically treat patients with correctable physical deformities such as cleft lips and palates, burn scar contractures, as well as hand and soft tissue deformities. The medical teams help to educate the Kansas City and third world medical personnel.
